Special Wine Tasting: April 1

Wednesday, April 1: 5:00 – 7:00pm

Wednesday, April 1st from 5-7pm, we are hosting a Wine Tasting in our wine shop. No really, this isn’t an April Fools joke! Joe Mazzitelli from Empire Distributors will be representing Cantine Povero, a winery we have been supporting for close to two years at Glasshalfull and Pizza Cornicione. You may remember what a hit their Barbera d’Asti was and enjoyed a few glasses yourself at either location. We recently tasted through the rest of the line-up and all agreed, across the board, these wines over deliver for their price points! When the opportunity arose to share these delicious wines with you, we couldn’t pass it up.

Dating back to 1837, Cantine Povero is located in the Piemonte, a celebrated region in north western Italy, home to some of the county’s most sought after wines. “For almost 200 years, they have been honoring the generosity of their land, among Roero, Monferrato, and Langhe.” In 2019 all 50 hectares of their estate were certified organic; one hectare is roughly two and half acres.

The Cantine Povero wines, their value per pricing, the history of the winery and their commitment to their famed land, and our menu, means Wednesday night is looking like a great night! Come for the tasting and stay for dinner or, if you have reservations already, join in the tasting.

Here are the wines Joe will be guiding us through:

Cantine Povero ‘Belvive’ Extra Dry Spumante NV
Cantine Povero ‘Il Canapo’ Roero Arneis 2024
Cantine Povero ‘Contrada Maestra’ Barbera d’Asti 2023
Cantine Povero Langhe Nebbiolo 2022
Cantine Povero ‘Priore’ Barolo 2021

The tasting is free and no reservations are needed for the tasting. Drop by anytime between 5:00 & 7:00pm to taste through the line-up.
